Lark Meadow (“Lark”, she/her) - Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer
Lark Meadow is a pioneer who serves at the nexus of social and climate justice. Following a career as CEO and founder of a globally recognized gender rights organization, she pivoted to advancing environmental equity, co-founding Aeon Blue with her sibling, inventor and electrochemist Deóis Ua Cearnaigh. As CEO, she brings extensive expertise in executive management, project development, team building, and strategic partnerships.
Deóis Ua Cearnaigh (“Yoshi”, he/him) - Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer
Deóis Ua Cearnaigh has three decades of renewable energy science experience: from biofuels and photovoltaics to fuel cells and wind turbines, and from chemistry to commerce. Motivated by the challenge to balance the economics of producing industrial hydrogen, he slept in the lab and dedicated his life to the synthetic fuel solution. He studied and conducted research in biofuels at New Mexico Tech, sugar metabolism at Yale, and nuclear fuel cycle and biodiesel at Los Alamos National Lab where he formulated an early model for converting renewable energy to cost-efficient fuel. He went on to study electrochemistry as well as wind energy engineering and economics at Texas Tech. This is when he discovered a path to intermittency and invented Aeon Blue’s interruptible saltwater reactor, and a solution to the chlorine problem.
Yoshi is a National Science Foundation Building Bridges Fellow and he holds an MSc in Electrocatalysis/Sonochemistry, an MSc in Biofuels, a PhD-ABD in Chemistry, an MBA in Energy Commerce, and certificates in wind energy and solid oxide fuel cells.
Lori Bowen (“Lori”, she/her) - Chief Administrative Officer
Bringing 25 years of experience, Lori Bowen’s broad expertise includes ventures ranging from film and event production as a director, producer, and screenwriter while also serving in assistant, research, and technical support roles. Coined Aeon Blue’s “Secret Weapon”, she has a knack for analyzing information and providing back of office support with organization, documentation, and technical expertise.
Dr. Rachel Behrens (she/her) - Technology Advisor
Polymer Technical Director at Materials Research Laboratory at UCSB, Dr. Behrens has a background in electrochemistry and spectroscopy towards energy systems and experience with both fuel cell and battery applications. She graduated with a Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she was active in various academic chemical and electrochemical societies such as the International Society of Chemistry, and has been published several times in the American Chemistry Society’s peer-reviewed journal Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research.
Dr. Joseph Dumont (he/him) - Technology Advisor
Dr. Dumont has over 8 years of experience in national labs, specializing in the aging of composite materials in a variety of applications. He has a PhD in Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering from the University of New Mexico, an MSc in Material Science from the University of Poitiers, and a BSc in Physics and Biology from the Aix-Marseille University.
In addition to being skilled in Project Management at LANL, he’s well-versed in the synthesis and engineering of materials; physical, chemical, electrochemical, and thermal characterization. He’s received grants from the US DOE’s Bioenergy Technologies office, among others.
